Lady Gaga Slept Through Oscar Nominations, Then ‘I Just Burst Into Tears’

Lady Gaga can sleep through anything, even her Oscar nomination. The singer turned actress said she woke up at 8:30 am in Los Angeles, made a call to her manager who told her the good news.

Although the announcement was made at 5 am Los Angeles time, Gaga didn’t hear her phone alerts with all the congratulatory texts but she did answer them all after she cried tears of joy.

“…these are Oscar nominations for the Germanottas. (her family name) I come from an Italian-immigrant family, and this feels like a very big win for them. This film was a lot of hard work, and I wouldn’t know that hard work if I didn’t know the hard work of the lineage of my family,” Gaga told the New York Times.

Gaga, who is nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song, celebrated her nominations with an evening with Elton John for his farewell performance in Los Angeles and resting her voice before returning to Las Vegas for her residency.

Also nominated for Best Actress is Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) Who do you think will win?
