It’s Time To “Break Up With Your Girlfriend”

Ariana Grande’s new album, thank u, next, has arrived, along with a steamy new video for the song “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored.”

In the clip, a blonde Ariana spots a hot guy at the club, played by Riverdale’s Charles Melton. He’s with a girl who looks more like the Ariana we know — brunette ponytail and all. Ariana is invited to dance with the couple and quickly starts scheming about to steal this girl’s man.

She boldly sings in the lyrics, “Break up with your girlfriend/Yeah, yeah ‘cause I’m bored/You can hit it in the morning/Yeah, yeah like it’s yours/I know it ain’t right/But I don’t care.”

Later in the video, Ariana is invited to a party at the couple’s house, where she shows up with a fresh brunette ponytail, looking almost identical to the girlfriend. She makes eyes at the man all night and eventually joins the couple in the hot tub. But before she can pull any moves on the guy, it’s the girlfriend that leans in for the kiss.

And for those listening closely, the song also samples a little of ‘NSync’s “It Makes Me Ill” from their 2000 album Celebrity, with Ariana incorporating some of the song’s melody but changing up the lyrics.

“Break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” is the 12th and final track on the album.
