Governor McMaster Lifts “Home or Work Ordinance” Effective May 4th

Governor McMaster made several major announcements Friday on South Carolina’s coronavirus outbreak response, lifting the mandatory home or work order for the state.

The home or work order will be voluntary starting Monday at midnight.

“Our goal from the onset of this deadly pandemic has been to protect South Carolinians, but as we all know, the state’s economic health is a major component of the state’s public health,” said Gov. Henry McMaster. “South Carolinians, now more than ever, should be vigilant in protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their communities by practicing social distancing and continuing to follow the advice and recommendations from our public health experts.”

Starting Monday, restaurants can also re-open to customers for outdoor dining. Right now, they are only permitted to serve through takeout or delivery. The governor says he is still devising a plan as to when indoor dining may resume.
