Richland One and Two schools and offices will close Thursday. Officials with Richland One stated that “high sustained wind speeds and the possibility of higher wind gusts, which pose potentially unsafe travel conditions for school buses and other vehicles.”

Lex-Rich 5 Schools

Joining in closures for Thursday are Lexington school districts One, Two and Five along with both Kershaw and Fairfield county schools. As of today, there is no word on school returning Friday.

Some schools in Sumter, Orangeburg and Calhoun, Clarendon and Lee Counties are closed, as well. Those areas are under a Tropical Storm Warning.

COLLEGES

Classes had already been canceled at the College of Charleston, The Citadel and Coastal Carolina University.

Both S.C. State University and Claflin University in Orangeburg also have canceled classes. As did Morris College in Sumter.

There are no classes at USC Salkehatchie and USC Sumter through Thursday.

Fall convocation for Benedict College in Columbia has been rescheduled to Sept. 19.
