City of Columbia Extends Mask Ordinance

The Columbia City Council will now impose harsher fines for those violating the extended mask ordinance – as in you’ll have to pay 4x more!

The unanimously approved ordinance makes three changes:

  • Extends the mask ordinance another 60 days from Nov. 5
  • Strengthens fines from $25 to $100 for individuals who do not comply with the mask ordinance.
  • Adds language to the mask ordinance specifically requiring masks be worn in lines while waiting to get into restaurants or bars.

Meanwhile, Lexington did not extend their mask ordinance.

Although the town is no longer enforcing the mask order, Barnes said businesses could still require customers and employees to have their faces covered before being allowed inside. [Source]

West Columbia also extended their mandatory mask order through January 2, 2021.
