Airbnb Bans “Party Houses” after Halloween Shooting Leave Five Dead
Airbnb’s CEO says the company will ban “party houses” after five people were killed at a San Francisco-area house party on Halloween. The party at the four-bedroom home had been advertised as an “Airbnb mansion party” on social media. The woman who rented the home told the owners she wanted to escape the California wildfire smoke. When neighbors called to complain of the crowd coming onto the owner’s property, the owners looked through their doorbell camera, saw the crowd and alerted police.
Cops say that five were killed and nearly a hundred others were left scrambling after someone shot into the crowd at the party. No arrests have been made at this time. Airbnb’s CEO said the company will do more to screen high-risk renters and will boot anyone who doesn’t comply with the company’s ban on house parties.
